Whether it is a birthday cake for 5 or a wedding cake for 500, we encourage our customers to share their ideas and vision for that special cake. At Jackson Cake Co, we endeavor to draw upon individual inspiration and imagination to create unique and delicious cakes.
Cakes can range from simple and elegant to intricate and ornate. As each cake is individually designed, prices will vary depending on the simplicity and detail of your cake.
How much do your cakes cost?
It's impossible to set up a price list, since each cake has so many variables. We take into account the number of servings, the complexity diversity of the design elements, and particulars important to the event. Sometimes a smaller cake may take longer to create than a larger one, and therefore, it will be priced higher per slice, which is the basis for pricing used by most bakeries. Our most basic cake begins at $10 per slice; however, we recommend budgeting between $10-$16 per slice after all of the elements (design, flavors, fillings, cake stand rental, tax, delivery, set up, etc) have been included. Of course we will certainly make every effort to work within your budget.
Is there a refund, minimum and/or deposit required?
There is a $250 minimum applied to all weddings. We do ask for a $250 non - refundable deposit to reserve your date, with the remainder due 2 weeks prior to the event date.
When is the best time to order?
For all occasion cakes we recommend our customers order at least 72 hours in advance, while we advise brides to contact us anywhere from 2-12 months prior to your wedding date, so we may begin to design your dream cake.
Do you offer a cake tasting for wedding cakes?
One of the most fun and inspiring aspects of creating the wedding cake is in the consultation. Reservations must be made in advance, and we are usually able to accommodate travel dates and whole family tastings. We recommend that each tasting select 2-4 different flavors from the menu or a personal request. Each flavor selected to taste is $35 and will be presented in an individual cake. This allows for a beautiful presentation and cake cutting practice for the wedding party. The cake consultation includes an hour of design and decoration discussion. We box up the leftover cake for you to enjoy over the next few days after the tasting. The cost as related to the tasting is completely up to the wedding party flavor selections, but there is a $70 minimum for each tasting covering the cake and allotted consultation time.
When should I book my cake?
We do not like to rush clients into making hasty decisions and we encourage research. However, we cannot guarantee prices and availability before a contract is signed. Most couples book our services six months to a year before their event. We have been known, however, to stay up all night to complete last-minute orders.
Can you ship my cake or the top tier after my event?
We find that standard carriers cannot guarantee safe shipping of our cakes. Even though our cakes are structurally sound, they need to be crated and even packed in dry ice to protect the perishable ingredients and fragile decorations. Some designs may even require the presence of a staff member who must assemble the cake on-site. Obviously, this process is both complicated and costly and involves special planning.
Would you be willing to use fresh flowers on my cake?
We will honor the requests for fresh flowers as long as proper coordination has been made between Jackson Cake Co and the florist for day of production.
May I purchase sugar flowers and sugar decorations from you?
We do not sell our sugar flowers or sugar decorations separately from our completed cakes. Our sugar embellishments are very time-consuming to make and too fragile to ship on their own.
My local baker is making my cake. Can you supply instructions? May I have dimensions of one of your specific cake designs?
Unfortunately, we can't supply this information, as we need to devote our resources to meet the demands of our clients. The structuring and decorating techniques we use took a long time to develop; additionally, cake construction requires special conditions and tools. We, therefore, cannot assume the liability of providing long-distance support to third parties.
Do you have a contract?
We do! Contract will be emailed with the proposal following the consultation.
